"We read in the Bible that the ancient Apostles held the keys of the kingdom. The role of an Apostle today is the same as it was anciently," Elder Bednar said. "An Apostle is a missionary, bearing testimony of the reality and divinity of Jesus Christ in all the world."

REVELATORY EXPERIENCE

We were all in the gym divided into zones to have our
pictures taken with Elder Bednar. Before the
conference he shook the hand of every missionary.

Some of our Elders arrived three hours early so that
they didn't get caught in traffic.

It was a privilege and powerful experience to be taught
by an apostle of the Lord.

Our missionaries outlook and attitude will forever be changed! We were all privileged to have been in his presence.

MISSIONARY WORK

Missionary work is hard. It has never been easy. I suppose it never will be easy..... This work as we all know is a basic and fundamental part of the Church.

A couple of our latest baptisms. The young lady that is shown in the picture is our first Mormon.org baptism. She taught herself and then read the Book of Mormon in a night.

SPACE SHUTTLE DISCOVERY

Space Shuttle Discover lifts off launch pad 39A atop twin columns of fire, creating rolling clouds of smoke in it's track. We had to visit our sister missionaries in Titusville near Cape Canaveral and so we were able to see the launch. February 24, 2011 at 4:53 pm. It was very exciting.

FLORIDA ORLANDO MISSION HISTORY

Florida has a deep Mormon heritage, going back as far as 1843. Traveling elders were occasionally sent into Florida until the Florida conference was officially organized November 1, 1895, which conference was within the Southern States Mission. In 1937, the first chapel in central Florida was built in Orlando. In 1950, the church established what is now officially called Deseret Cattle and Citrus Ranch in Osceola County, southeast of Orlando. Today the Church owns 316,000 acres covering three counties, making it the largest cattle ranch in Florida. Orlando was the second Florida stake, and was organized on February 23, 1958.

On November 1, 1960 the Florida Mission was created out of the Southern States Mission. This was the fist mission for the State of Florida. The original Florida mission was divided into the Florida South Mission July 1, 1971, then later into the Ft. Lauderdale Mission (June 1974); the Tampa Mission being created in 1976, and the Jacksonville Mission in July of 1987.

The Florida Orlando Mission is now graced to have within its boundaries the Church Ranch and the first temple of the church in Florida, the Orlando Temple.
